How ContainerCompass makes money, and what that does and doesn't mean for our editorial content.

Last updated: January 2025

The short version: ContainerCompass earns commissions when you purchase products or services through links on this site. This never affects which products we recommend or how we write about them. We disclose every affiliate relationship on relevant pages.

What is an affiliate relationship?

An affiliate relationship means that when you click a link on this site and make a qualifying purchase from a third-party company, we may earn a commission — typically a flat fee or percentage of the transaction. This is how many independent publishing websites generate revenue to fund content creation.

The commission is paid by the merchant, not by you. Prices are not higher because of our affiliate links. In most cases, clicking an affiliate link is identical in every way to navigating directly to the merchant's website.

Our current affiliate partners

ContainerCompass currently has affiliate relationships with the following companies in the shipping container industry:

  • Shipped.com — a shipping container marketplace offering sales, rentals, and rent-to-own programs. We earn a commission on qualifying purchases and rental agreements.

We may add additional affiliate partners over time. When we do, this page will be updated to reflect those relationships. Affiliate links on individual pages are marked with rel="sponsored" in the HTML.

How affiliate relationships do not affect our content

Our editorial content is written to be useful and accurate, not to maximize affiliate commissions. Specifically:

  • We do not accept payment from any company in exchange for editorial coverage or a positive recommendation.
  • We do not adjust rankings, ratings, or advice based on which partner pays a higher commission.
  • We include information that may lead readers away from making a purchase when that is the honest recommendation — for example, when renting makes more financial sense than buying.
  • We note risks and downsides of products and services, even for products offered by our affiliate partners.
  • Our guides are researched independently. We do not rely on information supplied by partner companies when writing editorial content.

FTC compliance

The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that websites disclose material connections — including financial relationships — that might affect the weight readers give to recommendations. This page, along with per-page disclosures on relevant articles, is intended to satisfy that requirement.

We take this obligation seriously. If you believe any disclosure on this site is unclear or inadequate, please contact us.

Third-party products and services

ContainerCompass provides information about third-party products and services for informational purposes only. We are not responsible for the actions, pricing, availability, or quality of any third-party supplier. Any transaction you enter into with a third party is solely between you and that party. We encourage you to review the terms, policies, and reviews of any supplier before making a purchasing decision.
